Welcome to Tony Coates' website

We all have ways of coping that help us move through the turbulence of daily life. Sometimes these are insufficient and it seems we have to pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps. This is where psychotherapy is beneficial. Psychotherapy is not necessarily a treatment for a specific mental disorder (although it can be) . It is rather a space or clearing where a person can lay out their concerns in a confidential conversation in which emotional expression, listening, and understanding are guiding principles. Through such conversations, ways of mending relationships become apparent, and unnecessary personal suffering alleviated. Such conversations almost always result in healing by revealing new approaches and different ways of seeing that were impossible to reach by one's self. New openings for action appear that were not apparent initially. This often spreads in to other life situations which become empowered as well.
